Visitors from all over and residents celebrate the history of the Kanawha River at the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta during Each Labor Day long weekend.

The festivity includes boat races, sternwheel cruises and other river-related events mark the festival.

There are a variety of other activities take place around Charleston throughout the weekend, including free concerts, fireworks displays, a parade, a distance walk, a distance run and a Sunday afternoon gospel sing.
