This five-mile stretch of heaven is located between Port Aransas and Corpus Christi. Clear water and powder-like sand earned Mustang Island a spot on our top ten list. You can drive right to your spot and set up shop for the entire day. Mustang Island also comes equipped with showers and porta-potties. What makes this one of our favorites though are its glorious sunsets. True, your day will be filled with fun but what better way could there be to end it than by a glowing ball setting in the horizon?

Mustang Island State Park is 3954 acres with about 5 miles of beach on the Gulf of Mexico in Nueces County, south of Port Aransas. It was acquired from private owners in 1972 and opened to the public in 1979.
