The new and largest American Girl Place (52,000 square feet vs. the current 40,000) is moving to a bigger home. In October it will Water Tower Place shopping mall and is due to relocate in October at the Water Tower Place shopping mall.
According to the the news, there will be an expanded café where girls, their dolls, plus doting parents and grandparents can have tea or birthday parties, a private dining area for special events and other experiences to be announced later, Parks says.
Currently, visitors to American Girl Place Chicago, New York and L.A. do the tea and birthday thing, get dolly’s hair styled and choose from four dozen dolls (including the multiethnic “Just Like You” line) and hundreds of outfits and accessories. Atlanta and Dallas have smaller AG boutiques.
The 9-year-old Windy City outpost, the first American Girl Place, draws a million visitors yearly.
