They say that the best Japanese restaurants in the United states are not from New York where you see a lot of yuppies and trend setters go for sushi a lot.  The two best Japanese sushi restaurants are found on Ventura Boulevard, in the San Fernando Valley.

The second best place (well, the first is in Japan obviously!) to get your sushi fixed is iin Los Angeles. 

First stop is at Katsu-ya which is located at 16542 Ventura Blvd in Encino.  The place looks a little brandy and no one will ever expect that this place has the best Sushi in the U.S.  The place is not at all glamorous but it is highly recommended for its clean ambiance and suithing appeal.  They also want every first timer to tast their toro and crispy spicy tuna roll.

The second one is the Kazu Sushi which is also in the Valley (11440 Ventura Blvd, Studio City).  there is a minimalist design and really wonderul interior.  Although the servings in Kazu Suchi are smaller than those of Katsu-ya, you can definitely eat at peace in these two Japanese restaurants.
