The Millennium Park is a 24.5-acre park which reused an unused rail yard and parking garage. The underground parking lot could now be one of the world’s largest at-grade green roofs.
The park incorporates the work of well-known designers and artists, including landscape architect Gustafson Guthrie Nichol Ltd.,” Somerville says. Visitors spread out on the Great Lawn for free classical, jazz and world music concerts throughout the summer.
The park is open daily from 6am – 11pm. Admission is always free.
